Sequence numbers are used within the backend of Office Spaces to determine the order of things to be displayed. This article will explain sequence numbers with examples to make it as easy to understand as possible.
What does it mean?
A sequence number can consist of multiple layers. To illustrate, a sequence number of 1214 can mean:
1 = Location
2 = Floor
1 = Zone
4 = Desk
Luckily, we won't ask you to configure these numbers yourself when using Office Spaces. However, sometimes we ask you to configure parts of it in the control centre or setup app. When adding new floors in the control centre or configuring desks in the setup app, you get asked to input a sequence number.
Example setup.
For example, you forgot to add Floor 3 on one of the locations during your configuration. Currently there are 5 floors.
Floor 0 = 10
Floor 1 = 20
Floor 2 = 30
Floor 4 = 40
Floor 5 = 50
If you would add Floor 3, it will give it the new highest sequence number "60". This would mean that it would be placed on after Floor 5. This is not how it should be. To change it in the correct order:
Floor 0 = 10
Floor 1 = 20
Floor 2 = 30
Floor 3 = 40
Floor 4 = 50
Floor 5 = 60
This applies for all sequence numbers that you encounter while configuring Office Spaces. Locations, floors, zones, clusters, desks.
